“Get Organised” Young Workers in Trade Union Movement
10 October 2019
There are more young people than ever before. About 41% of the global population is aged 24 or below and 60% of the world’s youth are living in Asia Pacific*. Imagine the number of young people aged 34 or below. Definitely youth is not minority in number. However, in reality, it’s hardly to say that their voices are heard enough in economy, society, politics and even trade unions.
Therefore, 30 young leaders were gathering on 6 October 2019 in Tokyo, Japan, a day before the 4th ITUC-AP Regional Conference, to raise youth voices and promote youth leadership in Trade Union Movement. They discussed the ITUC-AP Youth Charter and encouraged each other toward the next 4 years sharing youth-led organising and campaigns in past 4 years.
In the afternoon, youth collaborated with women and discussed to eliminate violence and harassment at work toward the ratification of ILO Convention 190.
